Some Awards

During my Christmas Cardapalooza I was given some awards and I finally getting around to posting about them.

First off was this Kreativ Blogger Award from my pal Patty at PaperPatty. Patty and I have known each other through SCS for a few years now. We used to do the twisted & demented swaps and then I met her at regionals one year and somehow we ended up as some of the organizers for the SCS Michigan Mingle.

When you get this award you have to follow these rules...
1. put the logo on your blog (if you choose)
2. put a link to the person that sent you the award
3. nominate 5 blogs
4. put links to their blogs
5. leave messages for your nominees

I'm going to nominate some of the people over at 30 something bloggers... so here it goes.

I also received this award from Dawn Marie. She is another Michigan gal. And she is a sweetie.

This award means that this blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY- nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers.

Thanks Dawn Marie!

I've got some other blogging friends that I want to pass this one on to and here they are:

Phew! Now I need to go tell all these people.

Christmas Cardapalooza Day 10

I saved my favorite for last... No, actually I just uploaded them in the order they were on my hard drive. This beauty features To You & Yours again. The colors are Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, and Shimmery White. The designer paper is from the Ski Slope pack. We added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the rooftop with a two way glue pen.

Well, that is the last of them. I hope you enjoyed them and if you didn't already have a design picked out for your Christmas cards this year, maybe they inspired you.

Christmas Cardapalooza Day 8

Mr. Twigster is on the scene! We stamped him on Confetti White in Basic Brown and added some color with markers. The colors were taken from the Frosty Day papers, Bashful Blue and Tangerine Tango.

Christmas Cardapalooza Day 7

For this card we used a snow flake from Snow Burst to make a wreath. The colors are Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke and Kraft. The direct to paper technique was used on the card base for texture and along the edges of the main image.
Happy Turkey Day! Gobble Gobble!!!

Christmas Cardapalooza Day 6

I cased myself for this one. Just switched it up a little. Snow Swirled is the stamp set. Colors this time are Old Olive, Basic Black, and Very Vanilla. The designer paper is from the Ski Slope pack. We added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter with a 2-way glue pen, but it is kind of hard to see here.

This card is done with the Season of Friendship set that is in the Holiday mini. The colors are Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, and Whisper White.

Christmas Cardapalooza Day 4

This card features the A Flower for All Seasons set that I borrowed from my pal Crystal (thanks Crystal!) and the sentiment was done with Fundamental Phrases. Colors are Certainly Celery, Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip. The image is stamped on the Naturals White cardstock with black stazon and colored with SU! markers. The designer paper is from the Holiday Treasures collection.

Christmas Cardapalooza Day 2

Isn't this one fun? It uses Big on Christmas and the colors are Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa, and Whisper White. The designer paper is from the Frosty Day pack. I used my Top Note die (I LOVE IT) and we colored the image with reinkers and a blender pen.

Christmas Cardapalooza Day 1

For the next 10 days I am going to show the Christmas cards we did last weekend at a stamp a stack. And I am going to predo all my posts today so they will actually be there. *insert rolling eye smiliey here*.

This card uses Baroque Motifs and I think the sentiment is from To You & Yours. The colors are Real Red, More Mustard, Old Olive and Whisper White. All SU!

I wasn't fibbing!

I really do have lots to show, but I was going to post and then wanted more love on my funky flower so I thought I would let it sit another day or so and then I got sidetracked. So now back to our regularily scheduled programming....

This was a make n take at the crop and stamp I went to a few weeks ago. Everyone loved it.

This was my other make n take. Isn't it cute. They liked this one too!

Funky Flower

I made this card using a flower stamp from The Rubber Cafe. I believe it is called Lace Flower. I can't find it on the site at this moment because they are still in the process of loading all of their stamps to the redesigned site.

I got to try out my new copics on it. I think I still need some work, but they are fabulous markers. On the flower inside the flower I added some sparkle with the Atyou Spica Clear Glitter pen.

I was Sworn to Secrecy

I participated in a swap hostessed by Jami Sibley. She is like a famous stamper and known for being a swap nazi and all these famous stampers participate in her swaps. My pal Crystal has done some of her swaps and always gets fabulous stuff so when Crystal told me there were some openings for the current swap I jumped right in. I think I followed all the rules and got them in on time so hopefully I will get asked to play again. Hee hee! You can't upload your swaps to your blog or SCS until everyone starts receiving them back so that is why I was sworn to secrecy.

This card wasn't anything totally earth shattering, but I think it turned out nice. Next time, if there is a next time, I'll have to try and come up with something more fabulous cause I think mine is kind of plain compared to the others I am seeing. I did emboss the little birdie up there, cut him out and put him on a dimensional.

We had to decorate the inside of the cards too so here is the inside of mine.

I don't have my cards back yet, but I bet they will come today or tomorrow.

I was busy prepping for a stamp and scrap thing last week and now that it is over I have some stuff to show. So look for more posts soon!

Swirled Dove by The Rubber Cafe

Two posts in one day!

I made both of these cards using the Swirled Dove from The Rubber Cafe. Be sure to check out their site because they just did a fabulous redesign and have a shopping cart now and there is a sale on the wood mounted stamps!

Both of these cards have the same layout and have the swirled dove image heat embossed in white. It is such a beautiful image.

On this one I stamped the main image repeatedly on the card base to give it some texture.

This card uses the Night Sky shimmery paper from PTI. Isn't it fabulous? Thanks Emma for giving me a piece!

Tagged!

I was tagged over the weekend by Becky in East Tennessee. Check out her blog. She has a really cool design!

I did this one not too long ago, but I am up for it again. It is the tell 7 things about yourself and tag 7 people one.

1. I moved a lot when I was younger and went to a total of 7 different schools by the time I graduated high school.

2. I had my 1st child when I was 24, my mom had me when she was 24, and my grandma had her 1st child when she was 24.

3. My favorite TV shows are Desperate Housewives, CSI (the original), House, and How I Met Your Mother.

4. I love Brad Paisley and hope to see him in concert one day.

5. I love Chinese, Almond Boneless Chicken. Yum. I think I want that for lunch or dinner.

6. I'm hot in the morning and cold at night. My DH is the opposite.

7. I need to go on a real vacation that doesn't involve camping. I can't remember the last time I went on one of those.

I forgot to say... Consider yourself tagged cause I am too lazy to go out hitting up more people. I don't think half the people I tagged last time played. Party poopers!

Altered Mini Journal

This was my 3D swap for the Mini Mingle. It's a Mini Journal and a matching pen. Both items were purchased at the dollar store. The journals came in packs of 4 and the pens in packs of 5. Add in some paper and embellishments and you have a cute little gift for coworkers, bus drivers, etc. for under a dollar.

Spooky Treats

I made these little buggers and gave one to each person at the mini mingle. They are cute and quick. These would make a great little treat for coworkers or classmates. I saw them on SCS and modified them a little (made mine simpler, by not layering color on the legs).

These are made with the scallop circle punch, photo corners punch, 3/4" circle punch and then I drew in the black on the eyeballs and the white eyebrows. There is a peppermint patty in there, but you could do it with other candies that are shaped that way. Or even round erasers.

Name Tag and Door Prize

This is my name tag from the mini mingle. I received the silver letters in a PIF. They were too big to go all the way across the top note so I had to improvise with some of the other letters.

This is the bag I put my door prize in. A lot of the gals were not brave enough to pick it not knowing what was inside. Hee hee!

This is what was inside of the bag. A designer brad bracelet.

I've Been Holding out on You

This past weekend was the SCS Michigan MINI Mingle. I had been busy making swaps, a door prize and a name tag for the event, but I didn't want to show it until after the event. Here is a card very similar to my swap card. For my swap card I heat embossed the flowers in white instead of doing the faux dry embossing you see here. Can I tell you how much I love the Top Note die? It is awesome and it kicks butt in my cuttlebug. I can't afford the Big Shot, but I am glad it works in what I already have.

Bag in a Box, Box Bag, Whatchamacallit

This is the other one of my projects for the stamp camp. For the sample I used some retired paper cause I wanted to save all the current stuff for the attendees. This little ditty is cute, quick and easy! And it is a little ditty. It is hard to tell from the pics you see on line, the base ends up being a 2.5" square and it is only 5.5" tall. Cute for a little gift. Maybe even the bracelet below wrapped in some tissue paper.
I found the directions here...http://dianagibbs.typepad.com/stampin_with_di/box-in-a-bag/ and there are some variations posted here...http://valeriestangle.blogspot.com/2008/07/mini-box-in-bag.html

A new twist

Lookie what I made! It is a bracelet with the designer brads from SU! We are doing these at our Christmas giftables camp. Isn't it purty?
