My favorite technique is the cracked glass technique. Using versamark and ultra thick embossing powder. Stamp your image on paper. Pat versamark ink pad all over top of image till covered in versamark. Put stamped image with versamark in a tray. Pour ultra thick embossing powder over image, heat with heating gun. Put tray with stamped image in freezer. Usually I have to repeat this two more times, until you bend the stamped paper and it starts to crack. I just love the look of this.
Hmmm...I am not really good at my techniques just yet. I was going to try ghosting this weekend after I saw a nice Lovely as a Tree example. I like crayon resist and gamsol/prismacolor pencils as well. As you can see, being a relative newbie, I am figuring out the basics before I go to some of the other great things I have seen on SCS (I don't even own a stylus or a heat gun yet...shh!). Thanks for the contest...
my favorite technique is watercoloring...especially with the watercolor wonder crayons...I color on the stamp..spritz the watercolor paper with water...then stamp on the wet paper...gives a great look!!
hi Lorien.. I really have to open an account so I canstop being anonymous! :}
Glad you got your supplies today for your workshop! That was fast!
I love teh pics here on your sight. Ihaev 2 techniques I think I haev finally mastered... The cracked ice usignthe UTEE (makes me think BLAdder infection ugh!) and the SOOT! tech. I love using candle fire to burn the glossy cardstock ;] you get a different image or background every time. Colorignon it first before you soot it awesome as well.
It's always a WOW! like the cracked glass and anyone can do it if I can...

Lorien,
you know it's me becasue I am a lousy typist and never think to check.. sorry! :}
Presently I've been doing a lot of embossing with pearl ex powder mixed into the EP. I use small containers to put the various mixed colors in and use versa mark for the embossing ink. Versa mark, then mixed EP, heat set...more versa mark, more or different mixed EP, heat set...
I've done some framed pieces with up to 6 layers of colors and EP. No 2 pieces are alike and it's a mystery how they'll turn out!
LOVE your ostrich card--WAY CUTE!
Thanks for the opportunity to share!

Well, are two tips I got from SCS where I spend way too much time.
One is to use a coffee filter to catch loose embossing powder or glitter, or maybe even beads though I haven't tried that. The powders slide right out with no stitcking.
The other has to do with the stazon pad. You know that little plastic lining that comes with it? Well, you are supposed to keep it on the ink when you are not using it. So, if you put a pop dot or dimensional between the lid and the little plastic thing it comes right off. So simple!
I don't have an identity, but this is me, Rainy!
Hi Lorien, I just found your blog from a link on Stampin' When I Can! My favorite technique at the moment is the "acetate smoosh" or at least that's what I heard it was called. Scribble watercolor markers on acetate, spritz lightly with water and lay your cardstock on top - instant background! Makes wonderful sunset and/or sunrise backgrounds, or even beach scenes - just use different color markers!
My favorite technique is cracked glass. It looks so pretty!
Are you suprised to hear how much I love faux stitching? WITH THE HOLES PUNCHED CHEATER! HA! Punch holes with hole piercer from tool kit and connect the dots with the white gel pen! SO cute! Now my dear friend Lorien does it a cute way too, she just makes the lines with the pen and skips the holes, she thinks it is too time consuming, but her stuff is great even without holes! :)
Hi Lorien, I just found your blog.. I wanna play! I love to add glitter to everything!! THat's my advise on life in general.. Just add glitter!
