Tagged!

I was tagged over the weekend by Becky in East Tennessee. Check out her blog. She has a really cool design!

I did this one not too long ago, but I am up for it again. It is the tell 7 things about yourself and tag 7 people one.

1. I moved a lot when I was younger and went to a total of 7 different schools by the time I graduated high school.

2. I had my 1st child when I was 24, my mom had me when she was 24, and my grandma had her 1st child when she was 24.

3. My favorite TV shows are Desperate Housewives, CSI (the original), House, and How I Met Your Mother.

4. I love Brad Paisley and hope to see him in concert one day.

5. I love Chinese, Almond Boneless Chicken. Yum. I think I want that for lunch or dinner.

6. I'm hot in the morning and cold at night. My DH is the opposite.

7. I need to go on a real vacation that doesn't involve camping. I can't remember the last time I went on one of those.

I forgot to say... Consider yourself tagged cause I am too lazy to go out hitting up more people. I don't think half the people I tagged last time played. Party poopers!

Altered Mini Journal

This was my 3D swap for the Mini Mingle. It's a Mini Journal and a matching pen. Both items were purchased at the dollar store. The journals came in packs of 4 and the pens in packs of 5. Add in some paper and embellishments and you have a cute little gift for coworkers, bus drivers, etc. for under a dollar.

Spooky Treats

I made these little buggers and gave one to each person at the mini mingle. They are cute and quick. These would make a great little treat for coworkers or classmates. I saw them on SCS and modified them a little (made mine simpler, by not layering color on the legs).

These are made with the scallop circle punch, photo corners punch, 3/4" circle punch and then I drew in the black on the eyeballs and the white eyebrows. There is a peppermint patty in there, but you could do it with other candies that are shaped that way. Or even round erasers.

Name Tag and Door Prize

This is my name tag from the mini mingle. I received the silver letters in a PIF. They were too big to go all the way across the top note so I had to improvise with some of the other letters.

This is the bag I put my door prize in. A lot of the gals were not brave enough to pick it not knowing what was inside. Hee hee!

This is what was inside of the bag. A designer brad bracelet.

I've Been Holding out on You

This past weekend was the SCS Michigan MINI Mingle. I had been busy making swaps, a door prize and a name tag for the event, but I didn't want to show it until after the event. Here is a card very similar to my swap card. For my swap card I heat embossed the flowers in white instead of doing the faux dry embossing you see here. Can I tell you how much I love the Top Note die? It is awesome and it kicks butt in my cuttlebug. I can't afford the Big Shot, but I am glad it works in what I already have.

Bag in a Box, Box Bag, Whatchamacallit

This is the other one of my projects for the stamp camp. For the sample I used some retired paper cause I wanted to save all the current stuff for the attendees. This little ditty is cute, quick and easy! And it is a little ditty. It is hard to tell from the pics you see on line, the base ends up being a 2.5" square and it is only 5.5" tall. Cute for a little gift. Maybe even the bracelet below wrapped in some tissue paper.
I found the directions here...http://dianagibbs.typepad.com/stampin_with_di/box-in-a-bag/ and there are some variations posted here...http://valeriestangle.blogspot.com/2008/07/mini-box-in-bag.html

A new twist

Lookie what I made! It is a bracelet with the designer brads from SU! We are doing these at our Christmas giftables camp. Isn't it purty?

Masculine

This is a manly card, no? I was going to title this post Doe a Deer... But then I realized this is a buck so that wouldn't work. On this card I used the Deer & Fence stamp from The Rubber Cafe. I created the background by going direct to paper with the close to cocoa classic and vanilla craft ink pads. I stamped the image with chocolate chip and then used a blender pen to pull some color into the fence and the deer's body.

Santa Doing The Hula

I finally got a chance to try out my new stamps from The Rubber Cafe.

On this card I used the Lg Palms and Hula Santa. I had fun building the scene with some sand paper and a sun made with a flower punch and a circle punch.

On this one you can see how the grass skirt tilts. Splitcoast Stampers has a great tutorial for the tilt card HERE.

Tagged Twice in One Day

First, I was tagged by Dawn Marie and then by Tiffany in VA. Lucky for me they were for the same game.

Here are the rules of the game:
Link your tagger and list the rules on your blog.
Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Now let's see...
  1. I love to eat popcorn and M&Ms when I am watching a movie. I need a little of both at the same time.
  2. I have to sleep with a fan on at night. My DH started that and now I am addicted.
  3. I need to get my brows waxed bad.
  4. I've got two sets of holes in my ears for earrings, but I rarely wear earrings in my 1st set of holes. I always wear the diamond studs my mom got me for graduation in my second set of holes.
  5. Speaking of holes in my ears, when I was in high school I let my friend put a third hole in one of my ears with a pin. It was crooked so I let it close up.
  6. We have a new dog. His name is Ozzy. My DH traded Ace for Ozzy last night. He is a younger English pointer. He barked all night. I can't keep up with DH and his hunting dogs.
  7. Today is my dog Bailey's birthday. She is two. My youngest daughter, Morgan, will be two on Thursday.

I'll tag some of my new SCS Swap Moderator buddies and some of my new Rubber Cafe DT buddies.

Cupcake Card

This was my other card for Crystal's new catty swap. I don't know how I ended up with this color combo. I wanted to use Pacific Point and I wanted to use the Pink Pirouette ribbon. I think when I added the glitter I ended up with the Rose Red. I wasn't totally feeling it at that point so I added the sentiment on the key tag punch and attached it with some black hemp and then I felt better about the whole thing. The cupcake is paper pieced. That is a lot of cutting for me, but I only had to make 6 of them so I went with it.

Don't look!

If you are in Crystal's swap with me and you want to be surprised. This is one of the cards I made...

Toot! Toot!

I really don't like that word, but nothing else fits better. I am tooting my own horn today. I got the go ahead to tell you all.

I made a design team!!!! A week or two ago I saw a design call on SCS and all you had to do to apply was send them a link to your blog. Easy-peasey. How could I pass that up? So I sent them a link and they loved my stuff and I am now on THE RUBBER CAFE design team!!!! My new stamps are on the way. I can't wait to get them and start playing. They have a wide range of stamps. Lots of unique stuff. I'm not going to tell you what I am getting yet. I'll let that be a surprise. So check them out. Melissa and Diane recently bought it and are in the process of revamping everything. I am so excited to be a part of it!

Stamp Camp Cards Revisited

Last week was a good week stamping wise, not so much because of the time I got to stamp (I should say lack of time), but because of some other news I got. I got an email that I was accepted for a design team, but I don't know if I can share info on that yet or not so look for something posted on that soon. I also got an opportunity to represent SU! at a local stamping and scrapping event. I'm excited about both of these things. I would love to build my "creative resume" and build my SU! business. Stamping is what I love to do and it would be so nice if I could make something of it.

Friday night was the 1st session of our September stamp camp. I tweaked the cards I showed you a little while ago just a bit.

For the 1st one I added the designer button to the center of the flower, but when I did it didn't look like Baja Breeze. It looked more Bashful Blue so I switched up the colors on this card.

On this one, I added the polka dot background.

Everyone on Friday really enjoyed these cards, and the gift card holder and double pocket card that my upline Tracy provided as her projects. The emerging colors card was like magic to most of the campers. When they were stamping the smaller flowers on the white they couldn't figure out how it was all going to end up looking like the samples I had out. A few of them thought they were going to cut out each petal and paste them on Not Quite Navy cardstock. Hee hee! If you have never tried the emerging colors techinique check out the tutorial on SCS...HERE.

I did manage to get one card done for my pal Crystal's swap. And I started on the second last night, but I am not loving it. I'll have to play with that one a little more. So look for cards with some new SU! stamps coming this week!

Little Lambsy Divey

So my grandma used to sing this song to me when I was little.... "Marsy doates, and dosey doats and little lambsy divey. " Just recently I discovered that it really is "Mares eat oats. And does eat oats. And little lambs eat ivy." Hee hee. That makes more sense.

This was the other card I made this past weekend.

Owls!

Aren't these the cutest owls ever? I got to sneak downstairs yesterday and managed to make two cards with my new Rachelle Ann Miller stamps. I have 6 of her stamp total now and I have gotten all of them from 7 Kids College Fund. I have bought them all on preorder from them and they always get them out to you as soon as they come in. I haven't preordered any of the new Christmas ones yet, but I am eyeing that Moose! Oh and the Snowman of course cause I have a severe snowman addiction.

We did this every day for the last four days.

Did you plant these?

I am so not a gardener. A few years ago I planted a bunch of things that would come back every year and I wouldn't have to mess with them. Hosta, Daylily, Tulips, Daffodils, I've got some phlox, there were some peonys there already when we moved in. Well, I haven't done much with it since then and it is pretty over grown. Things need to be split and moved. Maybe next year.

So we have been ignoring the flower beds and every couple of weeks my husband takes the weed wacker and trims down the weeds. He left a huge thistle that I guess he thought was a flower. It turned all brown after it got taller than me and he finally got rid of it. We had some trees coming up that I took out and we had something coming up in an old flower pot that I had Gerber Daisies in a few years ago. That something turned out to be these sunflowers. I never put them there. Maybe the kids planted them?

My initial, slighty intoxicated, thoughts on the new SU! Catalog

Last week, my dear friend Crystal came to my rescue and brought me one of her preordered catalogs so I could drool over it. I decided not to buy a box this year and instead buy a couple from my upline since I only have one customer and do a workshop once every few years. She showed up in the midst of a crisis that didn't turn out as bad as I thought. My son had cut his lip and I thought he put his tooth clean through it, but he didn't. Anyway, once I got all the kiddies to bed I decided to indulge in a big glass of wine. It was like half the bottle mixed with a little sprite, because I am a sissy and a lightweight when it comes to drinking. If I drank more often I am sure I wouldn't get tipsy so easily. After taking only a few sips and perusing the catalog I decided to shoot an email off to Crystal telling her thanks and apologizing for the craziness and telling her what I thought of the catalog. I also sent this to Tracy, my upline, just incase she wanted to know what I thought too. I guess wine makes me chatty. Lucky for Crystal and Tracy I have a severe aversion to the telephone or I would've been chatting their ears off. So I thought I would share with you all what I thought since I know the whole world is dying to know what I think of the new catalog...

Thank you so much for bringing me that catty! I am so sorry all heck was
breaking loose when you showed up. I was going to make you look at Carter and
tell me if I should take him to the ER, but I didn't want to traumatize you or
Megan. It ended up not being that bad after we got it to stop bleeding and put
ice on it to get the swelling down. Phew!

So after all that I opened a bottle of wine and have taken two sips from my big glass and have been perusing the catalog. So don't mind the chattyness. Have you made out a list yet? Of what you are going to order I mean. This is my list. I need to talk this through. Hee hee.

Tasty Sweet - cute, but how many Halloween sets do I really need? I
have carved and candlelit, and have used it maybe once. It isn't current though,
but we aren't doing a Halloweeen camp so it would only be for personal use...
Hmm

Snow Swirled - really like this one. But how many Christmas sets does a
girl need. My projects for our Christmas camp don't really require stamping so I
don't need another, but I may cave on this one. I am such a sucker for
snowflakes.

Owl Together Now - I am disappointed in this one. The owls are
too little. I think I am going to have to get the one from CHF with the owls or
the PTI one.

Humor in High Heals - This one is a maybe... but
then I just looked at the price and am not so sure it is worth that to
me.

Cheers to You - Yeah I am getting this one and I know you
probably don't need to borrow it. Does it seem like the newer sets are
higher priced than they used to be? Well they are die cut.

Crazy for Cupcakes - Cute. Maybe. Giant cupcake on the next page... umm probably
not.

Putt Putt - Cute concept, but not for $24.95

Pocket Silhouettes - Cute, but too small for me I think.

Inspired By Nature, Kindred Spirits - both of these intrigue me. I'm not sure though.

Happiness is a Journey and Nature Silhouettes - I would like to have a masculine set. I like the saying in the first, but not really feeling the train. I like the images in the second, but I don't know when I would use the sentiment. You know I'm not all about that.

Under the Stars - Definately when it is on sale like I think I heard
it would be.

Say it with Scallops - I like it. I wish that lollipop image
was some where in a different set and bigger though. I like the lollipop
flowers.

Puns from the Past - I like this. I like puns. The images are kind
of small. I like bigger. It is in the preview catty so maybe when those sets are
on sale.

I'm so happy the Summer Picnic didn't retire and you have a pack
of paper you can use. If you want to borrow my Tart and Tangy someday you
can.

I don't like the Christmas paper so much and I need Christmas paper
for the camp. We are making some gift bags... I hope there is some cool paper in
the Holiday mini. But our camp is in October so I don't know if I will be able
to order that in time. Ok now off to finish my wine.

It Felt So Good

I actually stamped this past weekend. I went downstairs, dusted off the cob webs, literally, and cleaned my stamp area. Then I proceeded to tweak my stamp camp cards. And after all of that came this beauty. I had fun making it and I am happy with how it turned out. Isn't that what it is all about?

And then yesterday these came in the mail. I preordered these back in June before the promise I made to myself. I can't wait to ink these. I love my Rachelle Ann Miller stamps.

Same Ole, Same Ole

No stamping. I have my last two SU! orders sitting in their boxes still. I did open them to check and make sure they were all good and they were. But that is as far as I have gotten. I have packages and more packages of stamps, ribbons, brads, dew drops, gems, stickles, etc. that I have received from the PIF threads piled up on my desk. I need to put it all in its place and stamp again. I obviously haven't gotten anywhere on that promise I made to myself a few posts back. I need to stamp something if I am going to get anywhere with that. Maybe this weekend...

Got Sidetracked

I meant to post this last week after my order came and I added a button to it. Well, my order came and I was too lazy to add a button to it and take another picture. So I was going to post it and then all the new SU! catalog and convention news started coming out and I completely forgot about this card. Amidst all the excitement I got a gig as a temporary mod at SCS helping with the convention threads. I am like almost famous... in my eyes anyway. Hee hee!

This card features the Emerging Colors technique. And it has some of the new SU! colors. Tangerine Tango and Baja Breeze. I paired them up with So Saffron and Not Quite Navy.
